MARINE MECHANIC Local marine service employer in Olympia, whose philosophy of taking care of its customers and employees is a priority, seeks full-time qualified Marine Mechanic who prides themselves in detail workmanship, craftsmanship and reliability. This long-term full service marine employer who has been in business in its current location for over 11 years, offers employment for the right person willing to grow and develop based upon their work performance and the right company fit. The key characteristics of this position will require an individual who has exceptional time management skills, attention to detail, takes ownership and accountability of their actions and takes on the mindset of "doing it right the first time". The ability to perform self-directed work is essential. Must be able to consistently produce high quality work in a clean and orderly manner. Must be able to consistently demonstrate reliability and proper communication and customer service skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Duties and responsibilities of the position include some of the following: Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, Inboard-Outdrive engines, outdrives and support systems. Read and interpret shop manuals as well as illustrations and specifications to determine layouts and sequences of operation for both disassembly and reassembly of related mechanical components. Set and verify parts clearances. Inspect and operate as well as test completed products to verify functioning machine capabilities as well as conformance to industry standards and customer desire where applicable. Assemble and install and connect parts and fittings and assemblies in a serviceable yacht quality fashion. Install mechanical assemblies such as engines, shafts, drive train components and rudders. Repair and or install vessel electrical / water / waste / fuel / plumbing and electronics as experience allows. Must be able to keep accurate accounting of time and materials applied to related job tasks. Provide overall boat repairs and maintenance as directed and be willing to learn additional skill sets as required. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 36 months of documented work history and related marine industry experience. 36 months experience with in gas and diesel motors. Must provide basic hand tools. Speak, read, write and understand English to communicate with co-workers and supervisors and for safety purposes. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Above average mechanical aptitude for the purpose of skill application. Outdrive troubleshooting / service and repair experience Mercruiser, Volvo, Yanmar, Cummins, factory training preferred. Marine systems experience to include heating, LPG distribution systems, sanitation. Marine electrical and electronics systems troubleshooting and repair to include new installations. Independent and self motivated to complete required deadlines while simultaneously completing other tasks. Sail boat rigging a plus but will train the right candidate. HOURS / DAYS / SCHEDULE: This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position. Hours of work are 8:00am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. SALARY / WAGE / BENEFITS: Wage of $16.00 to $22.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and experience (employer would be very willing to discuss a higher wage for the 'best' fit candidate.) Benefits to include: 1 weeks paid vacation after 1st year of service, progressive thereafter up to 3 weeks maximum. |
